The setup guide tests a directory (its "Test a person" step, /api/directory/test), but a directory added or edited on its own under Settings has no way to test it. Add a Test button there: after saving, check the connection works, and once it does, offer a field to test signing in a specific person, the same as the guide does.

Thanks to lindsay for asking for this on the forum (https://community.coffeylabs.org/t/117). Fixed in #110: a saved directory's page now ends with "Test this directory". Check the connection first, then try a person's address and, if you like, their password. It tests the saved settings, and the setup guide's test is unchanged. It'll be in the next release.
