Calendar and settings issues after upgrading to Stalwart 1.0.0 #66

I'm running Stalwart Mail 1.0.0 and the Docker edition of ihasmail v2026.10.27+g7823b4f. I'm having two issues after these upgrades:

  1. The calendar interface doesn't show any of my calendars. Instead I'm getting a red error near the top of the page that says CalendarEvent/get: invalidArguments - recurrenceOverrides cannot be requested together with utcStart or utcEnd. Even after deleting all of my calendars, I still get this error.

  2. My settings do not persist between login sessions in the same browser. After I logout and log back in again, all of my webmail settings have reset to the defaults.

I also loaded Bulwark Lite v1.8.0 directly on my Stalwart server as a point of comparison. It displays all of my calendars correctly, and its webmail settings persist between login sessions in the same browser.

Please let me know if you need any other information.

Thanks!

Thanks for the clear report, @alankeny. I've reproduced both on a clean Stalwart 1.0.0.

  1. Calendar: Stalwart 1.0 now refuses a request that asks for an event's recurrence overrides and its UTC start and end together, even when there are no events. That's why deleting your calendars didn't help. ihasmail asks for both.
  2. Settings: ihasmail keeps your settings in a settings.json in your account's Files. Stalwart 1.0 changed how Files describes folders and files, so ihasmail can't create its folder and your settings never get saved to the server. The Files view and signature images are likely affected on 1.0 as well.

Our 1.0 compatibility check missed both because it never made these two requests. The fix, and a wider check, are next. I'll post here when they're in a release.

The fix is merged in #67 and will be in the next release. Thanks again, @alankeny.

  • Calendars load on Stalwart 1.0 again.
  • Settings are saved to your account again, so they survive signing out. Anything you changed while on 1.0 was only kept in the browser, so you may need to set it once more after upgrading.
  • The Files view works on 1.0 as well. One gap remains: Stalwart 1.0 doesn't report permissions on files, so rename, delete and edit show as unavailable on files for now.

Our compatibility check now makes these calls against both Stalwart 0.16.27 and 1.0.0 on every change.

A heads-up for anyone following along: with upstream's new policy of being unfriendly to forks, including taking its test suites private, we expect more breaking changes like these in future Stalwart releases. We'll keep fixing them as they're found.
