Bug? All e-mails linked by a conversation are marked as unread when pressing the 'mark as unread' button when the mail is opened.

I want the first e-mail to have the unread status

Then i hover over the mail and press the 'mark as unread' button on the right side
That works wonderful, only this message is marked as unread

Same shen i right-click on the mail and i choose 'mark as unread', only that mail is marked as unread.
So far so good.

But, when i open the e-mail and i press the 'mark as unread' button, all e-mail that are somehow connected to this e-mail as a conversation will be marked as unread (see the unread indications next to the folders on the left)

I don't know if this is by design :-) but then the button should say 'mark every mail in this conversation as unread'.
I hope this is clear but let me know if you need additional info

I found out that this is also the case with all(?) the actions.

For example, when i do this with right mouse click > move to only that e-mail will move to the folder.
But if i open the e-mail and i choose move to (v) in the menu right above the subject, all conversations linked will move to that folder.

Also tested with mark as spam (!) and remove (#)

I have the button Conversation view unchecked so i expect only the singe e-mail to be affected by the buttons

Not by design — a real bug, and your follow-up finding it on Move to, Report spam and Delete as well was the useful half of the report. All four were the same single cause, so all four are fixed together.

With Conversation view off, the setting is meant to reach everywhere: the list draws one row per message, and opening one shows that message alone in the pane. The toolbar above it was only half converted. Its labels already read the message on screen — which is why the button correctly said "Mark as unread" for the one message — but the list of ids it actually handed to the action was still the whole thread. So the button said one message and did the conversation. Your hover button and right-click menu were fine because they never went through that path, which is exactly the difference you noticed.

Fixed in #417, now merged. The toolbar asks the same question the reading pane asks, so it acts on what you can see: one message when one is open, the conversation when the conversation is open.

On the naming you suggested — with Conversation view on, taking the whole thread is deliberate, and there the toolbar really is the conversation's toolbar. So rather than a longer label, the button now just matches what's in front of you either way.

It'll be in the next release. Thanks for the careful write-up, and for testing the other actions before posting.
